Gentle Beginning provides
Certified Nurse Midwives services in Oregon and Southwest
Washington with a focus on home birth; covering an area from
Battleground to Salem. We embrace birth as a normal process in a
woman's life, working with each family individually to build trust
in a womanıs ability to give birth naturally. We offer support
through our specialized birth classes, The Inner Work of Birth, and
25 years of experience attending homebirths and waterbirths as
Certified Nurse Midwives and Naturopathic Physicians.

Our
philosophy is rooted in the midwifery model of care, viewing natural
birth as an inherently healthy event and the basis of the birth
experience. While the birth process usually proceeds without need of
intervention there are occasions when it needs our help. Our years
of experience and training allow us to provide that help, ranging
from personalized labor support, herbal, homeopathic or allopathic
medicines to appropriate referrals for hospital assistance. We call
this integrative midwifery, believing that our dual licensing and
broad range of midwifery experiences allows us to bring the best of
both worlds to our clients.

In addition to our midwifery services, we offer our families the
option of continuing care with us through our pediatric services and
women's health care. As much as we enjoy working with expectant
couples we also enjoy working with a family's transition into
nurturing and confident parents. We offer breastfeeding support,
parenting classes and 24 hour call for emergencies.
Waterbirth in
Oregon
The home environment provides a supportive and safe environment in
which to give birth, allowing a woman to relax and follow her unique
path in the laboring process. When a newborn baby is perceived to be
a conscious, cognizant being, the manner in which he/she is born can
have far reaching effects. Assisted by capable and experienced
midwives, a family has the freedom to create the birth experience
they desire and welcome their new child with love, dignity and a
gentle beginning.
